Resurface, 2025
Stoneware, engobe, slip, glaze
133.5 x 122 x 78 cm
Resurface was built over seventeen days directly on the trolley platform of a large gas kiln. Constructed from sandy paper clay using an intuitive process of coil building, the two-part sculpture was developed in response to the spatial limitations of the kiln chamber. Engobes, slips and glazes were applied during the building process through gestural mark-making before the work was single-fired to cone 9 / 1260 °C in slight reduction.
